Who We are

The International Women in Power initiative founded on March 8th, 2011,  marking the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day (IWP), stands for universal women's and girls' rights, equality and equal professional opportunities for women and men.

Our goal is for women not only to campaign for equal opportunities in Germany, but also for their countries of origin and all other countries in which equality, the rights of women, girls and children, as well as human rights are not observed.

The initiative was launched by Hourvash Pourkian, chairwoman of the Kulturbrücke Hamburg e. V. (Bridge of Culture Hamburg (Non-Profit Organisation)) and her team.

Our demands

Women's rights instead of Sharia injustice

Women must be proportionate everywhere

Self-determination of women

Solidarity with Iranian women against forced veiling

Equal rights for women and girls

Equal pay for equal work

Appropriate valorization of household and child rearing

breaking the silence (#metoo)

Stop forced marriage of minors

fight violence against women

IWP draws particular attention to the violations of women's rights in Iran and around the world and works in opposition to the Iranian regime.
Our initiative campaigns for an end to violence against women in the name of Islam and its tradition, and in the process demands women's rights instead of "Sharia injustice."
IWP supports the petition "Keep your head clear" of TERRE DES FEMMES, which fights for a legal ban of the so-called "children's headscarf".
We fight for the equal rights of all people, regardless of their sexuality, gender, religion and skin color.
In addition, IWP fights for the separation of state and religion and the abolition of the Sharia laws as well as the stop of the execution of homosexuals and political prisoners in Iran and elsewhere.

We support the petition "Den Kopf frei haben"

"The veiling of girls of all ages - a growing phenomenon in many schools and even kindergartens - represents discrimination and sexualization of minors.

That is why TERRE DES FEMMES e.V. ( registered association)

demands a legal ban on the so-called “children's headscarf” in public spaces, especially in educational institutions, for all underage girls. We want girls to grow up without a headscarf and without full veils - here and elsewhere. "

Special Event for Women in the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg
